So, I thought that I would post this really quick. If you are expecting or know someone that is expecting, I would highly recommend these items. Trust me, registering is so much fun, but honestly you could live without 70% of that stuff. All of that "stuff" is great, but it just takes up so much space. I am not going to put the obvious items, like diapers, wipes, clothes (because, DUH, we all know they need those!). These are the Top items I would recommend for any newborn (as she gets older, I am sure this list will change):
1. Burp Cloths - you can never have too many I have found out
2. Swing - Blake does not love her swing yet, but it is awesome to put her in while she is asleep and you can get things done and still keep an eye on her!
3. Sterilizer - I didn't think you needed one of these, but I got one anyway and it is awesome! You don't have to have one, because boiled water works fine, it just has made my life easier.
4. ONESIES - you can never have too many and they are so easy, especially for those late night diaper changes!
5. Baby Bjorn - I was so aganist these, but they are great for when your baby wants to be held and you can still get things done!
6. Boppy Pillow - AWESOME for breastfeeding and for holding your little one.
7. Diaper Genie ELITE - I like the Elite because you do not have to twist the diapers individually.
8. Pack - n - Play - Blake sleeps in her Pack-n-Play beside our bed
9. Monitors- obviously...lol!
10. EXTRA sheets and Pack-n-Play sheets - trust me, they spit up all over them and their diapers can leak through on them at night! I would say at least 4 sets, because you don't want to have to do laundry every day!
11. Bottles - you think you have enough, but you won't!!! You can never have too many!
12. GOOD breast pump - make sure if you are breastfeeding that you have a great pump, because you will regret it! I rented a hospital grade one from a medical supply store and it is awesome!
13. Aveeno Wash and Shampoo in one - this is AWESOME for when you are spongebathing them, because they will SCREAM and you want to get things done fast!
14. Wipe Warmer - Blake screams if the wipes are cold! The wipe warmer is awesome!
That is all I could think of off of the top of my head. I wish that someone would have told me the "must haves" and been honest! Trust me, I am not an expert by any means, but I thought I would share our favorites.
So Blessed!

So much to be THANKful for!
We had our first Thanksgiving with Blake this year and it was wonderful. My family from South Carolina came all the way down to meet Blake and spend the Holiday with all of us. They got her on Saturday and stayed until the Friday after Turkey Day. I love my AUNT JEAN!!!! We all had a great time, even though it was a little overwhelming for Jon and I, as we had people stopping by all day for that first week. It was so great that so many people wanted to meet Miss Blake and we are so thankful we have so many great friends, family, and co-workers. We had dinner brought to us for over a week, thanks to Jon's co-workers and mine as well. We are so lucky to have such great people that we work with. We are truly blessed.
Thanksgiving was delicious as usual, thanks to my Mom and Dad! We always have Jon's family and my family together at my parents for Thanksgiving. It was extra special this year because of Miss Blake. Unfortunately, I had a really bad sinus headache and missed out on most of the day, but at least I got to eat with everyone :)
Remember during this Holiday season that we all have so much to be thankful for and remember to thank someone UP ABOVE for all of your blessings. I know I am thankful for my beautiful baby, my wonderful husband, my family, my great friends, my job, and everything that I have been blessed with.

Blake's Birth Story - Nov. 16, 2010
It is hard to believe that 9 months (10 months actually) go by that fast. I kept saying to my friends and family that it was going to take forever to get to November! Well, now November has come and gone and we have a perfect little girl to show for it! I want to share my birth story with everyone, because going into this was a whole new (obviously) experience for both Jon and I. Well, here goes...
I was put on bed rest beginning Nov. 3rd, my blood pressure had been high and my Dr. recommended me to stop working and just rest. My due date was Nov. 22nd. For those that know me, I cannot sit still, so being told that I was suppose to be on modified bed rest until my due date, was horrible! I didn't know what to do with myself. I had to go to my Doctor twice a week to monitor my blood pressure. Well, after a few appointments and my BP was still high, they scheduled an induction for Nov. 16th at midnight. I was really excited to know that was the day that I would be going to the hospital. I had everything planned out! I was going to clean the house, stock up on groceries, get myself together, before my induction that Tuesday night. I was going to start all of this on that Monday and finish up on Tuesday. Jon and I had scheduled our "last" date night, without a little one, for Tuesday before I would go to the hospital. Well, Blake had different plans for us. Sunday night, Jon and I enjoyed a fire, S'Mores, and dinner outside and just talked. It was really nice! Monday morning, Jon woke up for work at 5:30, as usual, and I woke up too. I sat up in bed, wide awake, and immediately thought that I had gone to the bathroom in the bed. I was like, well, I guess being a few days away from my due date, things just start leaking...LOL. I got out of bed and went to the kitchen and told Jon what happened. I was like, "Do you think my water broke?" We were both like, no, because in the movies (don't believe everything you see in the movies!), it was always like a gush of water, not a leaking...haha! I told Jon I was going to take a shower and see if that helped. As soon as I got out of the shower and there was still fluid leaking, I knew my water had broke. Immediately, I got really nervous, because I had not done anything that I planned on doing before the induction the next night! So, my house was not clean, laundry was not done, etc...I threw in a load of laundry and started cleaning my closet...don't ask me why I decided to do that. After 2 hours of running around the house, packing my bags, finishing laundry and cleaning the closet, Jon and I set off for the hospital. I was so excited and nervous. I then realized I had not eaten anything and wanted to stop to get something to eat, but I just wanted to get to the hospital. After being checked by the nurses and determined that my water did in fact break, we were admitted! We got to my room and my Dr. and the nurse came in and checked me again. I was not dilated, effaced, NOTHING...I did not have any contractions, the only thing that happened was my water broke. So, begins a LONG day of waiting for something to happen.
The Dr. told me that they would give me Cervadil (to get things ready down there and hopefully start contractions). I got my IV (which did not hurt as bad as I anticipated, even though Jon says I almost break his hand squeezing it so hard) and about 6 hours later Dr. Manicini put the Cervadil in. Nothing happened for about 3 hours (at this time it was about 6 PM and we had been at the hospital since 7:30 that morning). I was able to eat, because they had not begun any IV's at this point. So, that made me happy :) Remember, I didn't stop on the way to the hospital to grab my Cini-Minis I wanted :) Around 6 PM I started feeling a little crampy and knew the contractions were beginning. I thought, man this is easy, I could so do this without any pain medication! Dr. Mancini thought that was really funny and informed me that things were just beginning. People can try to describe the pain of contractions, but trust me, they are worse than everyone tells you! Someone told me that they felt like really bad period cramps...that is a bunch of BS! I don't want to scare anyone that has not had kids, but the pain really started kicking in around 9 PM (I know the time because I was watching the Real Housewives of Atlanta and couldn't concentrate on the show). Man, my pain level went from like a 1 or 2 on a scale of 1-10 to about a 20...LOL. I had contractions that would come every 2-3 minutes and they would come in 3's! I was miserable. I kept holding onto the hospital bed everytime they would come and cry and pray that it would go away. Finally about midnight, I asked my nurse to check me, because I knew that I had to be getting close with pain like this. Well, I was only 2-3 cm dilated. I was like, YOU HAVE TO BE KIDDING ME!!! I thought there is no way I am going to make it. Poor Jon tried to help, but I did not want to be touched or asked what he could do. I kept telling him the only thing you can do for me is get my epidural!! LISTEN UP HERE, if you take lamaze classes, PAY ATTENTION and take it seriously. Because, Jon and I just laughed through it. I was not going to do any of that stupid breathing, because I was getting an epidural. WELL, they don't tell you that it is pretty painful up to the point that you can get your epidural and the breathing really comes in handy. I kept holding my breath and praying the contractions would go away. The nurse told me to start breathing through the contractions and that would help a little. I listened, for once, and it did help. Jon was amazing and kept telling me to just breath and that it would be over soon. LESSON LEARNED, THE LAMAZE BREATHING TECHNIQUES ACTUALLY WORK! Finally, the nurse asked me if I wanted anything for the pain and I thought she was an idiot for asking. She started my IV and gave me Stadol (spelling), which immediately made me dizzy and loopy! I literally thought I was in Dr. Seuss land at Islands of Adventure and then I was in the movie I Am Legend. Weird, I know. I also yelled at Jon, because I thought he was moving the bed up and down. Little do they tell you, this medicine does not make the pain go away...it just makes you sleep and dream these crazy dreams in between contractions. I still felt the contractions!!! But, I guess it must have worked a little, because it was 8 AM. I had not really slept and neither did Jon. Finally, when the nurse checked me, I was t 4 cm and could get the miracle drug, my epidural! At this point, I was not scared about the epi, all I wanted was to get it. Mind you, I had been more scared about this needle going into my back more than I had been scared about the whole labor process! I honestly did not really feel anything. The worst part of getting the epi was you had to stay really still and be in this balled up position. FYI, contractions do not stop for the epidural! Trying to stay still and calm during a contraction while having a needle go in your back was not the most fun...but trust me, it is so worth it. After that, it was smooth sailing! I actually got to go to sleep for a few hours. By that time, it was around 10ish. Jon had gone downstairs to get something to eat and my mom was hanging out in the room with me (she had been there the whole time, except for at night. We told her there was not need for her not to get any sleep and we would call her if anything was happening). They then started Pitocin to get things moving quicker. Mind you my water broke more than 24 hours ago...Well, the Pitocin sure did work (not that I felt anything) because before I knew it I was fully dilated. Literally, I got the epi around 8:30 am and started pushing around 11:20 AM. When Jon came back, everything was out of the room and being set up for Blake to arrive. After such a long and painful night (15 hours approx. from when the pain began), we were ready to meet our little angel. The Dr. got in the room and told me to push like I was going number 2 and I did...LOL! That is honestly the best way to describe how to push. All I really felt at this point was pressure down there. I did not have any pain. I pushed for about 15-20 minutes and Blake arrived at 11:41 AM. The only pain I felt throughout pushing was when her head was out and her shoulders were coming. I had the urge to keep pushing, because it was uncomfortable with her like that. I didn't know this (maybe I am an idiot, but oh well), but you can only push during contractions. So, in between, you are just sitting there with your legs up and everything exposed. At this point, who cares! I have always been modest, but after having a baby, showing a boob is no big deal! LOL!
Blake Ellen Hodach was born 11/16/2010 at 11:41 am. She was 6 lbs 1oz and 19 in long. She was perfect! She has dark brown hair and Angelina Jolie lips :) It was love at first sight for both Jon and I. We could not have asked for a more perfect and healthy baby girl. The moment she was born, the nurse put her on my chest and it was the best thing ever. There are not any words to describe that feeling. The days at the hospital went by really fast. ENJOY your nurses and take advantage of sleeping when the nurses take her. Ask tons of questions to your nurses, no question is stupid! Also, make sure, if you want to breastfeed, to talk to the lactation consultant. Breastfeeding was not as easy as I thought it would be (come on, I mean, all they have to do is suck...lol...wrong!). It took Blake about 3 days to latch on. In the meantime, we had to give her formula, because she was not eating. Newborns want to sleep for their first few days of life, so eating is not a priority. I didn't really know this and was panicking because she was not eating. Oh, one more piece of advice, if you are breastfeeding, do not get frustrated, because she will know it! It makes things almost impossible to get her to latch on. Blake finally latched on when we got home and were in our own environment.
We got to bring Blake home on 11/18/2010. Being a new parent, we were scared to death of her not breathing, not eating enough, etc. I can say this now, they will let you know if something is wrong! Also, when they are sleeping, sleep with them. I never mastered that skill, but wish I did. Trust me, your house will eventually get cleaned, the laundry will eventually get done.
I know this was extremely long and I still left out a lot of details, but I hope you enjoyed reading. I hope that I didn't scare anyone with the pain of contractions, but honestly, like everyone says, you forgot what the pain felt like. I keep trying to remember and I know that it hurt really bad, but I would do it all again in an instant. The pain is so worth the outcome! It is love at first sight when you meet you little one.
I also want to say the the Regency Hospital in Winter Haven is amazing! My nurse that delivered Blake was awesome and if I have any more kids, I hope that we can have her! My Doctors were awesome too! I had a great experience with the Regency and would recommend them to anyone!
One more thing, Jon was amazing throughout my entire pregnancy and labor and delivery. He would rub my feet when I needed them rubbed, he got me food and drinks, while I sat on the couch, he forgave me for some of the mean things I said to him. During L&D, he was more amazing than I thought. Our love has also grown, from the moment Blake was born. I didn't think that I could love him even more, but I do.
Blake is a month old today, as I am writing this, and she is doing wonderful. She is such a sweet baby and looks just like her daddy! We are so blessed!

Finding out the BIG news!
Wow, so I never thought that I would get into this whole blog thing, but I caved! I think that this is a great way to share my experiences as a first time mom and keep everyone updated on what is going on in our lives. I wanted to first share my story of my pregnancy and Blake's birth. So, here goes...
Jon and I started "trying" to get pregnant in August/September 2009. I thought that it would be easy, I mean there is only one way to get pregnant! Well, it took us a little longer than we thought it would. After several months of getting our hopes up and your brain always seems to think you are pregnant (no, I am not crazy, trust me, when you are trying, you will do the same thing!). Every month I would think that I had pregnancy "symptoms," only to find out it was my monthly friend. In March, my period was about 5 days late (mind you, my cycle was never all that regular). I honestly said the month before, when it happens, it happens, no more of these mind games I kept playing with myself. I decided one Monday morning before work and after Jon had left for work that I would take a pregnancy test. I took it at about 6:30 on March 15th and jumped in the shower to get ready for work. I completely forgot that I took the test and when I got out of the shower, I was like, well, I know it is going to be negative (which is why I took it without Jon there!). I grabbed the test, looked down, and BAM, there were two pink lines!!!! I looked at myself in our bathroom mirror and didn't know how to react! I immediately started tearing up and then I realized I had to wait to tell Jon, because he was at work. I had to get to a meeting in Avon Park that morning for work, so on the way, I kept debating calling into work and telling my boss I needed the day off and then going to the school and telling Jon. I decided aganist that, because I did not want to tell Jon at the high school, I wanted to do it privately. So, I made my way down to Avon Park and stopped at Walgreens on the way to pick up some more tests, just to be sure. Once I got to work, I went to the bathroom and took two more tests and they were both positive. Needless to say, I was giddy all day and I couldn't tell anyone! On the way home from work that day, I bought a pack of diapers and when I got home I taped the pregnancy tests to them and wrapped them for Jon. When he got home, I told him I got him a present (he thought it was a Columbia polo he had been wanting!). He started opening the gift and starred at the pregnancy tests and said, "You're pregnant?!" He then proceeds to give me a high five...LOL...it must be a baseball thing. He then realized I was for real and hugs and kisses me. It is really a weird feeling finding out you are expecting, because you don't really know how to react. It is almost like an out of body experience, because you are so excited and nervous all at the same time. Of course, we then call our family and close friends to let them the great news!
Our first Doctor's appointment was when we were 10 weeks along. Everything was going great, until the Dr. tried to find the baby's heartbeat. Because she was so little (I was only 10 weeks), the Dr. had a hard time finding the heartbeat and sent us for an immediate ultrasound. She told us not to be worried, because the baby was the size of a lima bean and it was sometimes hard to pick up the heartbeat. Of course, being the worrier I am, I got a little emotional. I wanted to make sure everything with our little one was okay. Turns out, everything was fine and her heartbeat was strong. We also got to see our little lima bean for the first time!
At the end of June, we found out that we were having a little girl! We were up in the air on names, it was between Brooke Ellen, Reese Ellen, and Blake Ellen. I knew that I wanted Blake all along, but Jon was not so sure. We eventually decided on Blake Ellen and we absolutely love her name and it fits her perfectly! She is not a Brooke or a Reese :) After we found out the sex, of course, my mom, sister, Jon, and I had to go shopping! She is going to be the best dressed little girl in Lake Wales!
